Design Thinking

What is Design Thinking?

Design Thinking, or Human Centered Design, is a creative problem-solving approach for specific types of people centric problems. The process starts with people you are targeting and ends with a tailor-made solution or design to suit their needs. Unlike brainstorming, design thinking does not begin with the future state; rather it focuses on the current state of the problem, and what is happening right now. In a nutshell, it is about building a deep empathy with people, assessing the current reality, generating various ideas, prototyping and sharing the insight with stakeholders, and eventually, implementing the innovative solution after several feedback loops and iterations.

What Challenges the Approach Can Address

Design Thinking is suitable for solving wicked problems.

A Wicked Problem Is A “Social Or Cultural Problem That Is Difficult Or Impossible To Solve For As Many As Four Reasons: Incomplete Or Contradictory Knowledge, The Number Of People And Opinions Involved, The Large Economic Burden, And The Interconnected Nature Of These Problems With Other Problems.

– Stanford Innovation Review

Design Thinking processes can be used across different industries and sectors, from designing products, services and systems, to organizational human-centric challenges such as transformational changes.

How Does Prompta Leverage Design Thinking

As a business and cultural transformational consulting firm, we aim at successful transformation through a multi-tiered operational “Readiness Program” that maximizes the true potential of the organization. First, we evaluate the nature of the change, empathize with the stakeholders to understand their current reality.

To do so we conduct research to develop a deep understanding of “what is”. By combining all the research and observations, we then identify, and define the right kind of transformational challenge to solve.

In the ideation phase, we generate many creative ideas and explore a wide range of opportunities and possibilities. In the prototype phase we build real tactile representation for the range of our ideas. To assess whether the new ideas have the potential for prototyping we start by identifying the key assumptions that must hold true in our success criteria for change. Testing the assumption is the process of returning to the stakeholders for their feedback. At last the change implementation phase is the exciting moment when the ideas play in the real world.

In Prompta we strongly believe that any successful change depends on people. Our dedication to diversity, inclusion and respect creates a collaborative, open and dynamic work environment where performance and culture grow. Design thinking enables us to dive deeply into uncertain and complex nature of human-centered problems such as organizational cultural shifts, and transformational journey. In the fourth industrial revolution, where the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres are blurring, the role of human-centered problem-solving approach is now more crucial and needed than ever. In Prompta we thrive to put people first.
